Potter’s studio and her house . The entrance terrace is 1m higher than the street level . The entrance gallery where her works are exhibited is on the same level , Studio is half way down from that level . The entrance gallery is floating in the studio space . Split-floor level plan makes spaces to be continuous , and connect the rooms . High above the stairs there are sky lights from where down to the studio the sunlight comes , and music from studio goes up to the skylight . |
Terrace houses consists of client’s flat , their mother’s flat ,and maisonette to let . The site is 2m higher than the street level , and the tight regulations about buiding height in this area leads to the solution which is the split-level plan again . Through the various outer spaces like patios , terraces , and narrow light court , wind and sunlight come into the rooms . The gently curved roof covers the three flats which shape also comes from the building height restrictions. The sunlight comes from the crescent shape windows just under the roof . |

The addition to the Villa in Karuizawa. Small atelier of pottery ,and bedroom with shower room are added. The existing villa has already completed form , rectangular cross. So different crescent-like shape is chosen as its plan . Reinforced concrete slab is floating above the ground and walls and roof are constructed by the steel frame structure , as the same as the existing villa . House in the area of detached houses in Urayasu . Two staircases are in the crebasse between the blocks of rooms where sunlight comes down through the long narrow skylight . Main living spaces are on the first floor with a terrace which sandwiched between utility next to kitchen and study room . From the loft above study fireworks of Tokyo Disneyland could be seen every night . | ||
Villa in Karuizawa. The site is sloping down to the south-east . Two rectangular volumes are piled up cross . Living dining spaces are on the reinforced concrete platform which looks flying in the air . From the entrance , rather dark space , climb up the stairs , white and bright space is waiting , and you can see the trees in the near , and mountains in far , enjoying quite a wonderful view . L-shaped house on the sloping site by the sea ,with nice view . On the highest level there are bedroom , bathroom , kitchen, and dining . From this level floors are stepped down adjusted to sloping land . On the middle level , there is entrance and living . The lowest level there is the study room . Stepped decked patio is surrounded by L-shape Volumes . You can see the Izu-Ohshima beyond the sea from anywhere in the house and patio when it’s fin day . | ||
House in dense residential area in Tokyo . Land area is tight , and there are rigid regulations about possible floor area and building height . Three storied house but half way underground . The main entrance is on the ground floor half way up the ground level by external stairs . Main living with white stone finished floor and exposed fair-faced concrete walls and ceiling . Outside of the full open windows there is terrace , viewing trees turf garden next door . | ||
